Here is the starter, part one of our Christmas dinner recipe collection! Smoked salmon with cream cheese is a very popular starter, especially during the holiday season, and Girls, this is a super easy recipe. It’s quick, delicious and fun to make. You’ll only need about 15 minutes preparation time.

Smoked Salmon Starter

Ingredients:
- 1 box plain Ritz crackers
- About 100g smoked salmon
- 1 tub of cream cheese (such as Philadelphia)
- 1-2 lemons
- Parsley or another herb of your choice (optional)

What to do:

  1. Pick out as many Ritz crackers as you’d like, we would suggest 3 per person.
  2. Spread a layer of cream cheese over the cracker.
  3. Cut the smoked salmon into triangular pieces using a sharp knife, make sure an adult helps you for this. The pieces should be just a little smaller than the crackers.
  4. Stick the salmon pieces on top of the crackers.
  5. At the peak of the triangle, add a thick dot of cream cheese. The aim is to create a Santa hat! If you wish, pop a sprig of parsley at the base of the triangle shape, this will look like a sprig of holly.
  6. Serve with a wedge of lemon.

Would you believe it, you’re done! Remember, you don’t have to make Santa hat shapes like us. If you’d prefer a more traditional look, just cut your salmon to the appropriate size before you stick it onto the cracker, just like those in the picture, and sprinkle any herbs you like on top. So there was part one, be sure to look out for parts two and three!
