The MTV Europe Music Awards took place in Frankfurt, Germany last night, and its star-studded ceremony provided yet another triumph (or three) for girl-of-the-moment Taylor Swift.
The singer, who looked stunning in a full-length gold dress, took home the gongs for Best Female Act, Best Live Act and Best Look. She thanked her fans as she picked up her awards, saying: "I am so excited, I can’t believe you gave me three awards. I’m kind of insecure in general - so this is great for my self-confidence." Having recently topped the charts in 8 countries with her new album Red, her ego should be through the roof!
Taylor wasn’t the only one of our favorite stars to pick up an award, though: Justin Bieber was named Best Male Act, Best Pop Act and Best World Stage, while One Direction nabbed the titles for Best New Act and Biggest Fans. Unfortunately neither JB nor 1D were able to attend the ceremony: Harry, Zayn and co. were busy doing promo over in NYC, while Justin was presumably upset following his split with Selena Gomez. The boys all took to twitter to express their gratitude, with Niall Horan writing: "Wow I can’t believe it! We won 2 awards at the EMA ! Thank you soo much for voting for us! We are buzzing"
In other categories, Carly Rae Jepsen took home Best Song for her summer smash Call Me Maybe, while the fantastic Lana Del Rey was named Best Alternative Act. And no prizes for guessing who won Best Video... PSY’s Gangnam Style, of course! Who else?!
Were you pleased with the EMA results, or did the judges miss one of your favorite stars? Congrats to all the winners!
