Barack Obama beats Mitt Romney to take a second term in the White House.
Barack Obama has been re-elected as President of the United States and will continue into his second term in the White House.
After months of campaigning, the 2012 US elections came to an end last night as President Obama beat rival Mitt Romney for the presidency. Obama gave his inspiring acceptance speech at a rally in Chicago, saying: "Tonight in this election, you, the American people, reminded us that while our road has been hard, while our journey has been long, we have picked ourselves up, we have fought our way back. And we know in our hearts that for the United States of America the best is yet to come."
