OMG, there are so many different health rules to follow today right? If your folks are anything like ours, they’ll manage to find something wrong with every single thing that passes your lips. Our parents are telling us one thing, our teachers are telling us something else, and then there’s everything we see on the tv and internet…aaargh! It’s making our heads hurt.

So, we’ve made a decision. We’re going to eat food that makes us feel happy and look glowing…from the inside. There’s more to a pretty face and shiny hair than fancy make up and a good conditioner. You need to treat your tummy to foods that are going to fill your body with vitamins from head to toe. So come on girls, read on to find out how to eat yourself gorgeous.

Glowing skin: Say goodbye to acne and hello to a glowing complexion. Now, don’t be confused by the word ‘glowing.’ The idea isn’t to light up like a glow worm, but to give your face a really fit and healthy appearance. Put down the make up brush! All you need to do is get some healthy foods into your tum, and the good news is, they’re all absolutely delish! Try eating more tomatoes. They’re high in antioxidants that help to flush anything nasty from your system. The same goes for berries; strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, the choice is yours! They’re great to snack on and they’ll also give you a great energy boost. If you’re not a fruit fan, try slyly popping some in your cereal, or whip up a smoothie! Ask an adult to help, but all you need to do is pop some berries in a blender with some natural yoghurt (choose any fruit flavour!) and a little milk or juice, then whizzzz it up. Yum. Tasty treats for tasty skin.

Shiny hair: Step away from the hair gel. You are not a member of One Direction. Leave the sticky styling products to the boys and instead focus on giving your hair a nice sheen from within. Wait, there’s something a bit fishy about this isn’t there? Well, in fact, yes, because the key to sleek shiny hair is…fish! Eat plenty of salmon, tuna, mackerel, haddock, in fact just about any fish, to get hair shinier than K-Pez in a hall of mirrors. If you’re not a fish fan, don’t flip(per) out! Spinach and eggs are a great source of iron, which means stronger hair. Also, we’re going back to berries again, this time with blueberries. They give you lots of vitamin c, which will toughen your hair. Eat all of this stuff in one meal and it’ll be like a big hug for your hair-do. Awww.

Sparkling smile: This time of year can leave us all feeling a little glum, but here’s something to smile about: the right food can put you in a good mood! Ooh, that rhymes. Remember this little phrase whenever you feel a little grumpy and you find yourself shouting at your innocent pet kitten for no reason. Carbs are the answer here. Things like bread, pasta, rice and potatoes. They give you a great energy boost and release something from your brain called (warning, big word coming up) endorphins. These endorphins will have you smiling in no time. Other foods that have the same effect are bananas, oranges and, our favourite…chocolate! Dark chocolate is best for this and is a great treat to have every now and again. Everybody looks gorge with a big smile on their face. Now, why were we grumpy again?

Give these tricks a try ladies and you’ll soon see the difference. Let us know how you get on, and please share your tips for a happy and healthier you! We’re off to buy some berries…
